The Bhaag Milkha Bhaag movie is a biographical sports drama that depicts the life of Indian athlete, politician and painter Milkha Singh. This film is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and produced jointly by DreamWorks Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures and UTV Motion Pictures. This film stars Farhan Akhtar as the lead character along with actors Sonam Kapoor, Divya Dutta, Aditya Lakhia and Amruta Patki. It was released internationally on 18th July 2013. The theme song of the movie is sung by Farhan Akhtar. The story opens with the childhood incidents of Milkha Singh (Farhan Akhtar). He was born in 1920 in Lyallpur (now Faislabad), Punjab, British India. After his initial education at GMS Lyallpur, he joined Khalsa College in Amritsar for higher studies. His friend Kishen introduces him to running along with his five friends (Sadh, Cammi, Jaggi, Cammie and Dhamu). They decide to create a team named 'Quami Ekta Mission' in their college days. His dream of representing India in the Olympics is shattered when the British Government of India bans Amateur running events. He then decides to go to Japan and become a professional runner to prove his worth in the running world.He starts working in the shipyards to earn money for his trip. One fine day, he meets Rajesh Shahrukh who was also trying to raise funds for an upcoming Olympics event in Melbourne. Shahrukh introduces him to Lala Baba Mal Singh, who lends him some money. With this money he reaches Tokyo after travelling via Hong Kong where he wins all races against professional runners there including Olympic champion Milkha Singh (Rajesh Khattar). He then stays in Japan for four years. In 1952, Milkha Singh comes back to India and joins the Indian Army at the battlefront of the Indo-China War. He meets up with his friends in a railway station in Amritsar and recites a patriotic poem "Aye mere watan ke logo..." by Jana Gana Mana. When he returns from the war, he finds that his love interest named Sohni (Sonam Kapoor) has married his colleague Narinder Singh, her maternal uncle. A heartbroken Milkha decides to marry another woman named Gurbax Kaur (Divya Dutta). The wife of his friend Kishen (Amruta Patki) Gurbax Kaur's sister, intervenes and ends up in an 8-year battle with him. Due to some misunderstandings, the marriage was called off on the wedding day itself. He then meets Baden Mehta (Aditya Lakhia) whom he establishes a relationship with. They get married after eight years of their marriage and Milkha becomes a proud father-in-law. Both Baden and Milkha Singh are very proud of each other for their misbehaviors at the same time Baden likes another girl named Hritik who got pregnant due to him running away from his responsibilities. cfa1e77820
